Shannon Kook, a talented individual, was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, where his South African mother and Mauritian father instilled in him a rich cultural heritage.
A classically trained actor, Kook graduated from the prestigious National Theatre School of Canada, a renowned institution that accepts only 12 exceptional acting students each year. He was awarded the Edna Khubyar Acting Award, a prestigious scholarship bestowed upon individuals demonstrating exceptional talent and achievement.
Kook's impressive acting career began with lead roles in several theatre productions, including the world premiere musical of The Forbidden Phoenix at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, where he played the son of the Monkey King.
His transition to film and television was seamless, as he quickly landed lead and guest roles, earning numerous awards and accolades along the way. He won the ACTRA Award, was named a TIFF Rising Star, and received the Reelworld Film Festival Trailblazer Award.
Currently, Kook can be seen as a regular on The 100, a supporting character in all three Conjuring films, and as a recurring cast member on Nancy Drew and The Mysterious Benedict Society.
Outside of acting, Kook is a multifaceted individual with a passion for martial arts, practicing Taekwondo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Kickboxing. He is also an accomplished dancer, mastering various styles including Salsa, Bachata, Hip Hop, and Ballet.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Kook is a skilled photographer, behind the camera shooting and retouching portrait photography. He is fluent in Afrikaans and French, and is currently working on improving his Mandarin, guitar, and piano skills.
