Sela Ann Ward, a renowned American actress, was born on July 11, 1956, in Meridian, Mississippi, to Annie Kate (Boswell) and Granberry Holland Ward, Jr., an electrical engineer. She is the eldest of three younger siblings, Jenna (1957),Berry (1959),and Brock (1961). Sela's name, which means "rock, boulder, or cliff" in Hebrew, is a unique and memorable one.
Growing up, Sela was an accomplished student and athlete. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1977 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art and advertising.
