Beyer grew up in the rural Northern California town of Grass Valley, where he spent his formative years before making the bold decision to relocate to Southern California in 1989 to pursue his aspirations. This pivotal move marked the beginning of his journey in the entertainment industry, as he quickly landed a job as an actor in touring children's theatre.
As his career progressed, Beyer worked a variety of odd jobs within the entertainment business, honing his skills and building his network. In 2000, he co-founded his production company, Eye Scream Films, which has since produced a number of award-winning projects.
One of the most notable achievements of Eye Scream Films is the Callous Sentiment segment of the feature Visions of Horror, which won accolades for Beyer's editing and sound design work. This success was followed by his feature film writing and directorial debut, Down the P.C.H. (2006),which premiered worldwide despite being made on a modest budget of $40,000.
Beyer's second film, Resurrection Mary (2007),is a drama based on the famous Chicago Urban Legend and stars Golden Globe-Winner Sally Kirkland and character actor Richard Riehle. The film is also available worldwide.
In addition to his work as a director and producer, Beyer has also taken on editorial duties, producing the behind-the-scenes featurette for the campy thriller The Telling (2009) starring Bridget Marquardt and Holly Madison. He has also worked in the post-production department for the Sundance hit Bellflower (2011) and recently wrapped production as producer of the dramatic horror film Citrus Springs (2016).
Beyer's most recent collaboration is the adventurous romantic-comedy Poor Paul (2023),based on the hit web series of the same name. This project marks the third time he has teamed up with producer and casting director Valerie McCaffrey, with whom he has developed a strong creative partnership.
Throughout his career, Beyer has demonstrated his versatility and adaptability, wearing many hats behind and in front of the camera, as well as in the editing room. His focus remains on directing, and he continues to push the boundaries of his craft with each new project.
