Sean Kanan's multifaceted career in the entertainment industry has spanned various roles, including actor, author, comedian, and producer. His early career took off when he was selected from over 2000 hopefuls at an open call by renowned director John Avildsen for the role of Mike Barnes in the Karate Kid III.
This talented individual went on to create two iconic characters, AJ Quartermaine from General Hospital and Deacon Sharp from The Young and the Restless and Y&R. His immense popularity as Deacon in Italy led to his appearance on the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars, where he impressively lasted for nine weeks, showcasing his fluency in the Italian language.
As a comedian, Kanan has performed at some of the country's leading comedy clubs, including the Laugh Factory, the Comedy Store, Dangerfield's, the Brokerage, Uncle Vinny's, and other notable venues. On the theater stage, he has had the opportunity to perform in Sam Shepard's True West twice, once at the Zephyr theater and once at the Palm Canyon Theater.
In addition to his acting and comedy career, Kanan has also ventured into writing, authoring the book "The Modern Gentleman; Cooking and Entertaining with Sean Kanan" (Dunham Books) and "Secret of My Success". He co-hosted a celebrity parenting radio talk show called "Kanan's Rules", which is available for download on iTunes podcast.
When not working, Kanan dedicates his time to studying martial arts, writing scripts, cooking, and perfecting his stand-up routine. He is also a language enthusiast, studying Italian, French, Mandarin, Russian, and Japanese. Furthermore, he is committed to various charitable and nonprofit endeavors, including the ASPCA, anti-bullying, and the Red Cross.
