Scott Hansen is a multifaceted screenwriter and filmmaker hailing from Virginia Beach, Virginia. He has garnered widespread recognition for his work on the award-winning film "Bad Candy" (2021) and the horror movie "The Possession Experiment" (2016),which was acquired by Momentum Films (EONE) and released internationally in December 2016.
The Possession Experiment, which debuted in the top 10 of horror on iTunes for six weeks, was a commercial success, selling to 35 countries abroad and securing a three-year TV deal with HULU. The film, starring horror icon Bill Moseley, Greg Travis, and Mark Joy, tells the story of a theology student who uses a fundraising campaign to attempt to prove the existence of demons.
Since graduating from the Savannah College of Art & Design in 2005, Scott has produced and directed over 700 commercials and music videos for clients worldwide. He has also enjoyed significant success in the music video and commercial realm, working with notable artists such as Meshuggah, Willie Nelson, Motionless in White, A Day To Remember, ILL Nino, and Fear Factory, as well as commercial companies like Dew, Doritos, Bugatti, Discovery Channel, and Aston Martin.
In 2013, Scott founded Digital Thunderdome, driven by his passion for storytelling. His first feature film, "Monumental," starring Gary Cairns and Luke Albright, marked the beginning of his journey as a filmmaker.
In 2014, Digital Thunderdome produced "Until It Hurts," a documentary film that explores a piece of art commemorating fallen Navy Seals and its impact on a community. The film features Navy Seal Dave Hall and Wounded Wear founder Jason Redman and was accepted into various film festivals across the USA, ultimately winning the best feature film award at Cayfest in 2016 and securing worldwide distribution.
Scott's success continued in 2016 with the creation of "The Possession Experiment," which sold to EONE/Momentum Pictures for domestic and CMG for international distribution. The film, which debuted in the top 10 in horror on iTunes for three weeks, tells the story of a theology student who uses a fundraising campaign to attempt to prove the existence of demons. The film stars horror icon Bill Moseley, Greg Travis, and Mark Joy.
In addition to his work on "The Possession Experiment," Scott also produced the feature film "Bully" in 2016, starring Danny Trejo, Vincent Pastore, Ron Canada, and Disney star Tucker Albrizzi. The film secured a deal with Gravitas.
In 2020, Scott began production on the Halloween-themed movie "Bad Candy," starring Zach Galligan and Corey Taylor, who filled in for Sid Haig after his tragic passing in early 2019. "Bad Candy" spawned a sequel and horror universe with two additional movies, "How the Night Receives Them" starring Andrew Divoff, and a vampire movie called "The Virginia Bitches."
