Benjamin Sherman Crothers, professionally known as Scatman Crothers, was born on May 23, 1910, in the vibrant city of Terre Haute, Indiana. This multifaceted individual was a talented songwriter, actor, composer, singer, comedian, and guitarist who began his illustrious career after completing his high school education.

As a performer, Scatman Crothers appeared in numerous nightclubs, hotels, and films, as well as on television. He was a prolific recording artist, and his music catalog includes his own original compositions. His remarkable talents also earned him a membership with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1959.

Throughout his career, Scatman Crothers created a plethora of popular songs, including "The Gal Looks Good", "Nobody Knows Why", "I Was There", "A Man's Gotta Eat", and "When, Oh When". His remarkable contributions to the world of music and entertainment continue to be celebrated and admired to this day.
