Satoshi Dezaki

Noted animator and filmmaker, born in the city of Soma, Fukushima Prefecture, although some sources claim his birthplace to be Tokyo, where he later graduated. Interestingly, he is the brother of renowned animation director Osamu Dezaki, with whom he initially collaborated in an animation studio during the 1960s, taking on the role of a writer. As his career progressed, he transitioned to a freelance writer, remaining in this capacity until 1977, when he co-founded the Magic Bus animation studio. This marked the beginning of his journey as a director, as he started adapting and directing his own scripts. His directorial debut, "Captain," was released in 1981 and was based on the popular manga series by Akio Chiba. Furthermore, in the year 2000, he received a prestigious award from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the world of animation.
