Sara Barnes, also known as Samm Barnes, embarked on her journey in the entertainment industry as a crew member in Vancouver back in 1998. Her professional career took a significant turn when she joined the cast of Jeremiah, a TV series that premiered on Showtime/MGM in 2001, starring the talented Luke Perry and Malcolm Jamal-Warner, with renowned Executive Producer J. Michael Straczynski at the helm.
As she progressed in her role, Sara rose to the position of producer and began to take on additional responsibilities, including writing, editing, sound mixing, music composition, casting, pre-production, and other essential aspects of the production process. Her multifaceted involvement in the film industry allowed her to hone her skills and gain valuable experience in various areas of production.
In 2006, Sara was selected as one of eight emerging filmmakers to participate in the prestigious Crazy 8's Film Festival in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This esteemed opportunity enabled her to showcase her talents by writing, producing, and directing her first short film, a comedy titled "Ashes to Ashes".
The film's narrative revolves around a young woman's futile attempt to quit smoking, which soon descends into chaos and self-delusion as her personality disintegrates in her desperate desire for just one cigarette. Through this creative endeavor, Sara demonstrated her ability to craft engaging stories and her capacity to bring them to life on the screen.
