Sapna is a multifaceted artist, boasting an impressive array of talents that have earned her numerous accolades in the entertainment industry. As a versatile performer, she has effortlessly taken on a diverse range of ethnically ambiguous characters in both stage, television, and film productions.
Her journey began with San Francisco's Jump! Theatre, where she co-created, produced, and starred in the groundbreaking, mixed-media production "Terminally Female: A Cabaret". This bold endeavor showcased her impressive range as an actor, singer, and dancer. After relocating to Los Angeles, she continued to hone her craft, taking on roles in popular television shows such as Bosch, Shameless, The Fosters, and Scandal, as well as notable films like Dust Up, Thumper, In Absentia, Wakener, and Inside.
In an effort to defy typecasting, Sapna co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in the ambitious project Broad Strokes, in which she played an astonishing 28 distinct characters. Since then, she has gone on to produce numerous films and series independently, as well as through her production company Elegant Grotesque. Some of her notable projects include the award-winning drama Scrap, starring Anthony Rapp and Vivian Kerr, and the musical feature Stranded On Earth, directed by Mike Bruce and featuring Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
Beyond her work in film and television, Sapna has also pursued a successful music career, serving as one half of the cinematic, shoe-gazey, dream pop duo Vatavaran. Additionally, she co-wrote the song "Dil Gira Na De" with the Neo-Western psychedelic rock band Spindrift.
In her capacity as a dedicated industry professional, Sapna has served as Editor-In Chief and then Chief Marketing Officer of the LA-based film collective We Make Movies for over a decade until 2022. Born in England and raised across the United States, she holds degrees in English and Women's Studies, and trained at the esteemed American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
