Sandy's life journey began on the east coast of Scotland, where he was raised before embarking on a path to artistic expression by training at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Since then, he has had the privilege of performing in numerous theatres across the country, taking on a diverse range of roles that have helped shape his craft.
Among his most notable performances were those in Othello, where he played the roles of First Soldier and Cassio understudy, and The Captain of Kopenick, where he brought to life the character of Sergeant Conrad. Both productions were directed by esteemed industry professionals, including Nic Hytner and Adrian Noble.
Prior to these roles, Sandy had the opportunity to play the Boatswain in The Tempest, directed by Adrian Noble, and Brodie in The Real Thing, directed by Kate Saxon. He also took on the role of Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk, directed by Andrew Panton, in Perth Theatre.
From 2009 to 2011, Sandy was a part of the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, where he performed in a variety of productions. These included Dr. Johnston in Dr. Angelus, Bo Decker in Bus Stop, Steven Flowers in Privates on Parade, Freddy Eynsford-hill in My Fair Lady, Bill Calhoun in Kiss Me Kate, Sergeant Odd in Whisky Galore – A Musical!, and Prince Charlemagne in Cinderella. The productions were directed by a range of talented individuals, including John Durnin, Ken Alexander, and Richard Barron.
In addition to his work in theatre, Sandy has also appeared in film and radio productions. Some of his notable credits include Angus Crombie in Our World War for BBC3, Private McGregor in Magic Grandad for BBC1, and Watty in Silver Bullet for BBC Radio 4.
