Biography

Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan, a renowned Indian film actor, was born on December 27, 1965, in the vibrant city of Mumbai, to the legendary screenwriter Salim Khan, who has written numerous iconic scripts, including Sholay (1975),Deewaar (1975),and Don (1978).

Khan's acting career began with a supporting role in the 1988 film Biwi Ho To Aisi, followed by his leading role in the 1989 box office romantic hit Maine Pyar Kiya, catapulting him to the status of a heartthrob in Indian cinema.

His subsequent performances in Saajan (1991),Andaz Apna Apna (1994),Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994),Karan Arjun (1995),Khamoshi the Musical (1996),and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) showcased his versatility and ability to adapt to various roles, effortlessly shifting between sensitive, vulnerable, funny, aggressive, and charming.

However, Khan's personal life has been marred by controversy, including a 1998 arrest for killing protected wild animals, and subsequent trials for three cases of killing blackbucks and Chinkaras, as well as illegal possession of arms. In September 2002, he was involved in a car accident near the American Express bakery in Bandra, resulting in the death of one man and injuries to others.

Despite these challenges, Khan has managed to balance his troubled life with his career, delivering emotionally charged performances, such as his portrayal of an obsessed lover in In Your Name (2003),which received positive reviews and a successful run at the box office.

His work has also gained international recognition, particularly in the 2004 film Phir Milenge, where he played the role of an AIDS patient, earning appreciation from the World Health Organization (WHO) for its portrayal of AIDS patients in today's world.

In 2007, Khan launched the Being Human - Salman Khan Foundation, a charitable organization focused on aiding the underprivileged in areas such as education and healthcare.

More recently, he has starred in multiple record-breaking box office hits, including Dabangg (2010),Ready (2011),and Bodyguard (2011).
