Biography

Sally Magnusson, a Scottish broadcaster and writer, was born on October 11, 1955. She is the daughter of the late Icelandic broadcaster and writer Magnus Magnusson and journalist Mamie Baird. Her maternal uncle, Archie Baird, was a footballer.

Magnusson was educated at Laurel Bank School for Girls in Glasgow and later at the University of Edinburgh, where she studied English Language and Literature. She began her career in journalism at The Scotsman newspaper in Edinburgh and then moved to the Sunday Standard in Glasgow.

As a prominent Scottish broadcaster, Magnusson is often seen on BBC television, presenting various programs including Reporting Scotland, a long-running news program, and Songs of Praise, a religious television program. She has also presented on BBC Radio 4 and was a presenter on the BBC's Breakfast Time in the 1980s.

In addition to her television work, Magnusson has co-presented several programs, including Breakfast News and The Daily Politics on BBC Two. She has also written several books, including Life of Pee: The Story of How Urine Got Everywhere, and has written about the lives of Scottish runners, poets, and other notable figures.

Magnusson is married to Norman Stone, and together they have collaborated on children's books, including Horace and the Haggis Hunter.
