Noted actress, who graduated from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1971, marked her professional debut at The Mermaid Theatre in London under the guidance of Bernard Miles. This was followed by two seasons in repertory at The Gateway Theatre in Chester, where she honed her craft.
Prior to her television appearances, she made her screen debut in Granada's "Shabby Tiger". This marked the beginning of a prolific career in radio broadcasting, with thousands of broadcasts to her name, including commercial voice-over work.
However, it was her fifteen-year stint on BBC Radio 4's topical satire show "Weekending" that earned her widespread recognition. In 1992, she won The Radio Times Radio Comedy Performance of The Year award for her outstanding contributions to the show. Her impressive Margaret Thatcher impression was particularly noteworthy, with The Guardian newspaper describing it as "more terrifying than the real thing".
Taking a break from her career to raise her two children, she returned to the stage in 2008, starring as Betty Marsden in a touring production of "Round The Horne". In 2012, she appeared in "Arsenic and Old Lace" at The Pitlochry Festival Theatre, followed by "The Ladykillers" two years later, also at Pitlochry.
