Ryo Kase, a talented individual, was born on November 9, 1974, in Kanagawa, Japan. His early life took an unexpected turn when his family relocated to Washington, United States, shortly after his birth, and he spent the majority of his childhood in this new environment.

As his interest in the performing arts grew, Kase began his acting career in 2000. He soon landed his first starring role in Kazuyoshi Kumakiri's critically acclaimed film, Antena, released in 2003. This breakthrough performance marked the beginning of a successful collaboration with several renowned Japanese film directors, including Takeshi Kitano, Hirokazu Koreeda, and Kiyoshi Kurosawa.

Kase's international breakthrough came with his appearance in Clint Eastwood's war drama, Letters from Iwo Jima, in 2006. He went on to work with prominent directors in the international film industry, featuring in notable films such as Gus Van Sant's Restless, Abbas Kiarostami's Like Someone in Love, Hong Sang-soo's Hill of Freedom, and Martin Scorsese's Silence.
