Russell Page, the youngest of 12 siblings, was born into a working-class family in Brisbane, Australia. At the tender age of 15, he faced a crucial decision that would shape his future: to pursue Rugby, as his father desired, or to follow his passion for dance. In a bold move, he chose to defy family tradition and dedicate himself to the world of dance.
Russell's journey led him to the Aboriginal Islander Dance Theatre in Sydney, where he received his formal education and graduated in 1989. This milestone marked the beginning of his illustrious career, which would soon take him to the Prime Minister's private courtyard in Parliament House, Canberra, for a prestigious performance.
In 2001, Russell joined the renowned Bangarra Dance Theatre, where he quickly rose to stardom and collaborated with his future wife, Rayma Johnson. During his time at Bangarra, he was involved in various projects, including the critically acclaimed film "Kick" (1999),in which he played a lead role. Despite his success in film, Russell remained committed to his dance career, appearing in numerous short films and video-clips.
Tragically, Russell's life was cut short, leaving behind a legacy that includes two daughters and a son, Rhimi, who continues to follow in his father's footsteps as a guest performer at Bangarra Dance Theatre.
