Ruby Mildred Ayres, a renowned English novelist, was born on January 28, 1883, in London, England, to an architect father. She later married Reginald William Pocock, an insurance broker, in 1909. Tragedy struck when Pocock met his untimely demise in a train accident in the 1940s.

Ayres, a talented writer, penned popular romantic novels and serials for prominent publications such as the "Daily Chronicle" and "Daily Mirror". Her literary career began to take off with the publication of her first novel, "Richard Chatterton V.C.", in 1916.

Beyond her work in novels, Ayres also ventured into the world of motion pictures, writing for both American and English productions. Her theatrical talents were showcased in her play "Silver Wedding", which premiered in 1932.

Ruby Mildred Ayres passed away on November 14, 1955, at the age of 72, in Weybridge, England.
