Biography

Roxanne Messina Captor is a renowned Emmy-nominated writer, director, and producer, and a directing protégée of Francis Ford Coppola. She was awarded the prestigious Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Republic of France in 2005 and the Humanitas and Ohio State Award for the CBS movie Home Sweet Homeless in 1988.

In addition to her work in film and television, Messina Captor has a background in professional ballet and was a triple threat on Broadway. She was also an assistant choreographer to Gene Kelly on One from the Heart and The Cotton Club, and served as a production assistant on The Outsiders and Rumble Fish.

Messina Captor has written, directed, and produced numerous network and cable movies and series, including the Hallmark Channel movie Dream Moms and the Christmas movie "Dickens of a Christmas". Her other produced projects include Her Married Lover for Lifetime TV, Dead on Sight for HBO, and Fatal Vows and In Dreams for CBS.

Her award-winning work includes the digital series The Salon, which won Best Ensemble at the Indie Series Awards and Best Digital Series for the iHollywood Film Festival, and the film Homecoming: Veterans, Wives, Mothers, which won the Five Star Award Best of Festival for the iHollywood Film Festival and awards for the San Pedro International Film Festival.

Messina Captor has also produced and directed documentaries, including a film on Jazz Grammy winner Stanley Clarke and a documentary on Emmy-winning actress Barbara Bain. She has worked as a theater director and choreographer on several productions, including Summer Stock, The Vow, and Trotsky's Garden.

Messina Captor was one of the founding original program executives at Turner Network Television and served as the executive director of the San Francisco International Film Festival and Society, where she increased box office and attendance by 40%. She has also served as a guest speaker at the Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema and has been a member of several professional organizations, including the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the National Association of Television Program Executives.
