National Academy of Theater and Film Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, was the institution where Rousy Chanev pursued his acting education from 1963 to 1967, honing his craft under the guidance of renowned professor Boyan Danovski, with a focus on drama theater.
Following his studies, Chanev embarked on a distinguished theater career, taking the stage at the Drama Theater in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, from 1967 to 1969, before moving to the Drama Theater 'Sofia' in Sofia, Bulgaria, where he performed from 1970 to 1990.
In the early 1990s, Chanev joined the Little City Theater 'Off the Canal' in Sofia, Bulgaria, a theater he would later direct artistically from 1994 to 1995. Since 1995, he has been a prominent actor at the National Theater 'Ivan Vazov' in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Throughout his illustrious career, Chanev has brought over 80 characters to life on stage and has starred in more than 30 feature films, both Bulgarian and foreign productions. His impressive list of accolades includes:

Furthermore, Chanev is a member of the Union of Bulgarian filmmakers and was honored with the Best Actor Award by the Bulgarian Film Academy in 2015 for his outstanding performance in the film "Buffer Zone".
