Biography

Here is Roseanne Barr's biography:

Roseanne Barr, a firebrand comedian, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to a Jewish family who had immigrated from Russia, Lithuania, and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. She dropped out of high school at 17 and was admitted to a mental institution after a car accident. She left the institution less than a year later and gave birth to her first daughter, Brandi Brown, at 17, but gave her up for adoption.

Roseanne began working as a waitress and dishwasher, where she developed her sense of humor. She married Bill Pentland and had three children with him. She started doing stand-up comedy and was discovered by Johnny Carson, who invited her to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1985.

Roseanne's big break came with her own sitcom, Roseanne, which debuted in 1988 and ran for nine seasons. The show dealt with real-life issues in a lower-middle-class working family and became a huge success. During its first season, it leaped to #2 in the ratings.

Roseanne's personal life was marked by controversy, including her divorce from Bill Pentland and her marriage to Tom Arnold, with whom she had a tumultuous relationship. She also claimed to have been physically and sexually abused as a child, but her parents and siblings denied the allegations.

In the 1990s, Roseanne's career slowed down, but she continued to work in television and film. She married Ben Thomas in 1995 and had a son with him. She also began studying Kabbalah and became more centered and stable.

In the 2000s, Roseanne began to comment on politics and ran for the Green Party's presidential nomination in 2012. She was subsequently chosen as the Peace and Freedom Party's candidate for President of the United States, receiving 61,971 votes in the general election.

Roseanne's show Roseanne returned for a tenth season in 2018, but was canceled after she sent a racially-offensive tweet. Throughout her career, Roseanne has been known for her outspokenness and controversial comments, but she has also been praised for her comedic talent and her ability to tackle real-life issues in her work.
