Rosa Maria Rosaveline Carin, a first-generation American Filipino, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to a family of diverse heritage. Her father, a medical doctor, and her mother, a pharmacist, immigrated to the United States, where they gained citizenship. Her father's military career spanned several decades, starting as a Captain in the Navy and later transferring to the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel, before retiring as a Colonel.
After her father's retirement, Rosa's family settled in Talihina, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school and pursued higher education at St. Gregory's University and The University of Oklahoma. Following her studies, Rosa embarked on a teaching career, instructing Pre-K for six years before becoming a stay-at-home parent for several years.
Rosa's foray into the entertainment industry began when some friends encouraged her to give it a try. She was cast in the feature film Serving Sara (2002),which marked the beginning of her successful career in film and television. In addition to her acting work, Rosa has also hosted television shows on local station KERA, appeared in music videos, and portrayed lead characters in independent films.
Rosa has also made a name for herself in the commercial world, appearing in numerous commercials and print ads. In 2013, she founded her own production company, Mystisa Films, and in 2014, she released her directorial debut, Damage-Joy (sha-den-froi-de),which received critical acclaim and was selected for six film festivals, earning nine nominations and winning five.
Rosa resides in Dallas, Texas, with her husband and their two children, where she continues to pursue her passion for filmmaking and acting.
