Romeo Vasquez's cinematic journey began with humble beginnings, starting as an extra in the movies. His initial exposure on the big screen consisted of simply walking in front of the camera, marking the beginning of his long and storied career. Prior to his breakthrough, Vasquez appeared in small and bit roles in a total of seven films.
However, it was his pivotal role as the younger brother of Amalia Fuentes in the 1956 movie "Lydia" that catapulted him to fame. That same year, he was introduced and launched alongside Susan Roces in the film "Miss Tilapia". This marked a significant turning point in Vasquez's career, as he began to take on more substantial roles.
In 1957, Vasquez delivered a phenomenal performance in "Sino and Maysala?", a film that paved the way for his first starring role in "Pretty Boy". His outstanding portrayal of the lead character earned him widespread recognition and critical acclaim. Building upon this momentum, Vasquez went on to give an award-winning performance in the 1958 movie "Ako ang Maysala", for which he received the prestigious Golden Harvest Award for Best Actor.
