Biography

Romano Calò, a renowned Italian stage actor, ventured into the world of cinema during its silent era, born in Rome in 1883. Between 1911 and 1943, he appeared in approximately thirty films, predominantly in supporting roles. The year 1945 marked a significant turning point in his career, as he was chosen by Leopold Lindtberg to portray a priest in the classic war film The Last Chance, following his unexpected stay in Ticino after the fall of Badaglio.

Notably, his most iconic role was also his last on the big screen. Despite this, Calò continued to remain active in his adopted country, Switzerland, where he had settled. He worked for the Lugano radio studio until his passing in 1952.
