Roland Møller, a talented Danish actor, was born in Odense, Denmark, and made his screen debut in 2010 with a striking performance as "the Mason", a brutal inmate, in Lindholm & Noer's prison drama R. His portrayal earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at The Danish Critics Association Awards, Bodil, in 2011.
Two years later, Roland received another Bodil nomination for his role as the sailor "Jan Sørensen" in Tobias Lindholm's drama A Hijacking. Jan Sørensen, a ship's engineer, is taken hostage by pirates on the Somali shore and must use his wits to survive as days pass by.
In 2013, Roland starred in Michael Noer's Northwest, playing Bjørn, a local gang member who welcomes a new kid in town into his world of drugs and prostitution. This performance earned him a Bodil award.
Roland's breakthrough role came in 2014 when he took on the leading part in Martin Zandvliet's WWII film Land of Mine. He played the role of Danish Sergeant Carl Leopold Rasmussen, who is in charge of a group of young German prisoners of war forced to clear landmines on the West Coast of Denmark after the war. For this performance, Roland won Best Actor at the Tokyo International Film Festival and the Bodil Awards, and the film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards 2017.
Earlier this year, Roland starred in David Leitch's Atomic Blonde, opposite John Goodman and Charlize Theron. He is also set to appear in Jaume Collet-Serra's The Commuter, alongside Liam Neeson, in Michael Noer's Papillon, opposite Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek, and in Jérémie Guez's A Bluebird in my heart.
Besides his acting career, Roland is a co-host on two radio programs on the Danish radio channel Radio 24/7, Politiradio and Nattevagten. He has also left his old life in the criminal underworld behind and is now deeply involved in his community, helping to steer at-risk youth away from a life in crime and serving as a mentor to boys who are at risk of becoming involved in crime.
