Rocky Carroll, a classically-trained actor with a profound foundation in theatre, has established a remarkable career in cinema, stage, and television, showcasing his impressive range through diverse and captivating performances.
Born Roscoe Carroll in Cincinnati, Ohio, he began his artistic journey at the prestigious School for Creative and Performing Arts, graduating at the age of 18 in 1981.
To further hone his craft, Rocky pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University in St. Louis, ultimately earning his degree.
He then made the bold decision to relocate to New York, where he began to test his acting mettle on the stage, initially taking on Shakespearean roles.
As his stage presence solidified, he transitioned to television, appearing in various series, including Chicago Hope (1994),Law & Order (1990),The Game (2006),Boston Legal (2004),and The West Wing (1999).
However, it was his breakout role as Assistant Director Leon Vance on NCIS (2003) that truly cemented his status in the industry, reuniting him with his Chicago Hope co-star Mark Harmon.
Throughout his tenure on NCIS, Vance's character underwent a significant transformation, rising from Assistant Director to Director of NCIS after the passing of Director Jenny Shepard, played by Lauren Holly.
In 2009, Rocky expanded his NCIS universe by joining the cast of the spin-off series, NCIS: Los Angeles, playing a pivotal role in establishing the Los Angeles-based NCIS office.
