Biography

Robert Smigel is a multifaceted American creative force, exceling in various capacities as an actor, humorist, comedian, writer, and director. He is widely recognized for his work on Saturday Night Live, specifically his "TV Funhouse" cartoon shorts, which showcased his impressive range of skills.

However, Smigel's most iconic and enduring creation is undoubtedly Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog, a foul-mouthed puppet that has become a household name. Triumph's biting wit and sarcastic humor, reminiscent of a classic Borscht Belt comedian, have made him a fan favorite. The character's debut on Late Night with Conan O'Brien in February 1997 marked the beginning of a long and successful run.

In addition to his work on Triumph, Smigel has collaborated with Adam Sandler on several projects, including the Hotel Transylvania films and You Don't Mess with the Zohan. His extensive experience in the entertainment industry has prepared him well for his directorial debut, The Week Of, which was released in 2018.

Throughout his illustrious career, Smigel has demonstrated his versatility and talent, consistently pushing the boundaries of comedy and entertainment. His unique voice and perspective have made him a beloved figure in the world of comedy, and his contributions continue to delight audiences around the globe.
