Two notable examples of his remarkable body of work include "The Eskimo: Fight for Life" (1970),a powerful and thought-provoking documentary that shed light on the struggles and resilience of the Inuit people, and a documentary about the devastating civil war in Angola, a testament to his commitment to telling important and timely stories.

In 1978, his tireless efforts and dedication to his craft were recognized and rewarded with two prestigious awards: the Camera d'Or at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival and the Best Feature award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, both for his 1977 masterpiece "Alambrista!".
