Robert Jay Litz is a multifaceted creative professional, currently involved in various projects across the film, television, and theater industries. He is producing the indie film "Ten Tricks", directed by Rick Pagano and featuring John Bailey as the director of photography, which is currently in post-production. Additionally, he is the head writer for the new Spanish TV series "Alta California".
As an executive producer, Litz worked on the TV movie "For The Price Of A Mule" for CBS, Warner, Wolper, and Nexus, earning a "story by" credit. The two-hour bio of John Travolta, which Litz co-wrote, aired on A&E in January 2003 and received an Emmy nomination.
In his ongoing collaborations with Michael Kruzan, Litz is developing the animated series "Sunset" for Alyssa Milano. His latest stage play, "One World", is set to premiere at the Elephant Theatre in May.
Throughout his career, Litz has written original screenplays for various films, including "Twister" for Warner and "Fighting City Hall" for Paramount. His produced films include "House of Cards" (1993) starring Kathleen Turner and Tommy Lee Jones, "Medium Straight" (1988) featuring Richard Schiff, and "Rappin'" (1985) with Mario Van Peebles and Eriq LaSalle.
Litz has also worked on various other projects, including adapting his own stage play "Mobile Hymn" into the film "West", and developing the TV movie "Guilt" for Del Mar Productions, which is set to begin production this summer. He has four spec scripts under option, ranging from romantic comedies to bio-pics and political dramas.
In addition to his work in film and television, Litz has written 20 produced plays for Off, Off-Off Broadway and regional theaters, including "Mobile Hymn", which won the 1997 Drama-Logue Award for Best Play and Best Ensemble. His one-man play "Douglas", about Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, was named Best New Play of 1991 by the Portland Critics, while "Great Divide" was presented at the Eugene O'Neill National Playwrights Conference and later moved to Off-Broadway.
