Robert Figueras, the founder of Filmutea, a cutting-edge production company based in Barcelona, was born in Vilabertran, Spain in 1975. With an online community of over 46,000 Spanish filmmakers under his belt, Figueras' passion for film began at a young age when he started using his father's digital camera to capture his sister's ballet recitals.
As a child, Figueras was fascinated by action movies, fantasy, war, and horror films, particularly those featuring epic special effects, intense battles, and heart-pumping fight scenes. This fascination only grew stronger as he delved deeper into the world of filmmaking.
In 2013, Figueras made his debut with Panzer Chocolate, the first Spanish Transmedia feature film, a groundbreaking project that incorporated a video game, comic, and mobile interactivity.
Prior to becoming a filmmaker, Figueras spent four years working in corporate finance investment banking for Merrill Lynch and ABN AMRO. He also gained valuable experience working for General Electric and Danone.
Figueras' academic background is equally impressive, having earned a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from ESADE University in Spain between 1993 and 1998.
Before establishing his own production company, Figueras worked extensively in over 50 productions in various crew positions for renowned production companies and individuals, including Partizan, Black Dog Films, Flynn | Productions, @radical.media, Amarillo Films, Gas & Electric, Draw Pictures, Manifesto Films, In Your Dreams Ltd, Green Lions, and Pretzel Films Ltd.
