Rita Tushingham, a talented actress born in Liverpool on March 14, 1942, began her professional apprenticeship at the Liverpool Playhouse. Her film debut in 1961 was in Tony Richardson's adaptation of Shelagh Delaney's kitchen sink drama, A Taste of Honey, for which she won a BAFTA and the best actress award at the Cannes Film Festival.
