Rick Overton, a talented individual with a rich musical heritage, was born and raised in the states of New Jersey and New York. His family's affinity for music was evident, as his father, Hal Overton, served as the esteemed big band arranger for the renowned jazz legend Thelonious Monk, in addition to being a music teacher at the prestigious Juilliard Institute. On the other hand, his mother, Nancy Overton, also known as Anne Swain Overton, was a member of the iconic girl group The Chordettes, whose notable hits include the catchy singles "Lollipop" and "Mr. Sandman".
As a result of his musical upbringing, Rick has always had a passion for music, often indulging in the harmonica and even playing with local blues bands from time to time. Furthermore, he has a notable background in the comedy world, having started his stand-up career during his high school days as part of the comedy duo "Overton & Sullivan". Eventually, he transitioned to a solo act and began to make a name for himself in the early 1970s at the legendary New York Improvisation.
