Richie Ramone's remarkable career with the Ramones spanned from February 1983 to August 1987, during which he made a lasting impact as the band's most musically prolific and powerful drummer.
Notably, Richie was the only drummer to be credited as a composer, writer, and lead vocalist of a Ramones song, with a total of six songs appearing on the albums Animal Boy, Too Tough to Die, and Halfway to Sanity.
Joey Ramone, a punk rock icon, praised Richie, stating, "Richie saved the band as far as I'm concerned. He was the greatest thing to happen to the Ramones. He put the spirit back in the band."
In addition to his work with the Ramones, Richie has continued to write and record music, exploring the film industry as both an actor and soundtrack composer. He made his acting debut in the indie film HEADCHEESE the movie, released in 2020, and subsequently appeared in Protoge Moi, while contributing tracks for both films.
Richie's recent projects include a new single, I'm Not Afraid, on Outro Records, as well as a cover of Cry Little Sister for the soundtrack to Protoge Moi. His critically acclaimed tribute to his father, The Last Time, followed the success of his second CD, Cellophane, released in August 2017, and a 7" single for the track I Fix This.
Prior to these releases, Richie dropped his first solo album, Entitled, featuring new songs written by Richie as well as new recordings of classic songs he wrote for the Ramones.
The Ramones fan favorite, Somebody Put Something in My Drink, was included on Ramones Mania, one of only two Ramones albums to go gold, as well as Loud, Fast Ramones: Their Toughest Hits, an album comprised of songs handpicked by Johnny Ramone as the Ramones' best works.
In November 2018, Richie released his autobiography, I Know Better Now, on Backbeat Books.
