Richard Rodgers, a renowned American composer, has left an indelible mark on the world of musical theater. With an impressive 43 Broadway musicals and over 900 songs to his credit, he is undoubtedly one of the most significant American composers of the 20th century.

Throughout his illustrious career, Rodgers collaborated with notable lyricists, including Lorenz Hart, with whom he penned several musicals throughout the 1920s and 1930s. This partnership yielded iconic productions such as Pal Joey, A Connecticut Yankee, On Your Toes, Babes in Arms, and many more.

However, it was his collaborations with Oscar Hammerstein II that truly cemented his legacy. Together, they crafted a new era of Broadway musicals, focusing on characters and drama rather than light-hearted entertainment. Their iconic works include Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, and The Sound of Music.

Rodgers' impressive résumé also includes the distinction of being the first individual to win all four major American entertainment awards: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award, collectively known as an EGOT.
