Ric Serena is a multi-talented and accomplished Director and Editor, boasting an impressive array of awards and recognition for his work in television and film. He recently took home his second Emmy Award for Outstanding Promotional Announcement, adding to his collection of prestigious accolades, which also includes Clios and Promax Awards.
In addition to his commercial and promotional work, Ric's short film, Radio Silence, made a significant impact, being a finalist at the 2023 ABFF HBO Short Film Award Showcase and garnering numerous awards, including a Jury Award, Audience Award, and Best Director Award, throughout the 2023/24 festival circuit. His 2018 documentary, My Indiana Muse, received widespread recognition, earning five "Best Documentary" awards and being screened at over 20 festivals.
Before devoting himself to directing full-time, Ric honed his skills as an editor of long-form programming. He then transitioned to short-form editing, eventually moving into television marketing before co-founding Serena Creative with his lifelong partner and photographer, Jen Serena, in 2007. Although he now focuses primarily on directing and writing, his editorial instincts remain a valuable asset.
Throughout his career, Ric has achieved notable success, earning two Vimeo Staff picks and exploring animation. He is currently working on writing and developing feature-length screenplays, with plans to direct them in the future.
