Reza Kianian was born on June 19, 1951, in the vibrant city of Tehran, Iran. He was the second child in a large family of eight siblings, consisting of four brothers and two sisters. At a young age of one, Kianian's family relocated to the city of Mashhad, where he would spend the early years of his life.
Kianian's introduction to the world of acting came through his brother Davood, who played a significant role in shaping his early career. Davood, who was also an actor, arranged for Reza to join his theatrical troupe, where he honed his skills for a period of three years. After leaving his brother's group, Kianian began acting professionally in various theatre groups across Iran.
In 1972, Kianian achieved a significant milestone by completing his degree in acting from the University of Tehran. Throughout his illustrious career, he has had the privilege of working with renowned directors such as Bahman Farmanara, Massoud Kimiayi, Ebrahim Hatamikia, and Saman Mogadam, to name a few.
Kianian's personal life is marked by his marriage to his wife, Haydeh, whom he wed on March 21, 1983, on the Persian New Year. Haydeh has been his partner for almost three decades, and their union has been a source of strength and inspiration for Kianian.
Apart from his acting career, Kianian is a multifaceted individual with a passion for fine arts. He is a skilled painter, photographer, and sculptor, and his artistic endeavors have been showcased in various national and international exhibitions. In fact, his paintings and photographs have sold at prestigious galleries and auctions, both domestically and internationally.
In June 2012, Kianian made history by acting as the auctioneer for the Tehran Auction, the first-ever auction-style event in Tehran. The event set a world record by selling out, raising over a million dollars. This remarkable achievement is a testament to Kianian's charisma and expertise in the field.
In addition to his many accomplishments, Kianian is also a prolific author, having written nine books. He has won numerous awards throughout his career and is widely regarded as one of the stalwarts of Iranian Cinema.
