Biography

Rex Smith has had a illustrious career spanning multiple mediums, including Broadway, film, and television, as well as producing his own one-man show. He initially rose to fame as a "teen idol" heartthrob with the platinum album hit "You Take My Breath Away", which was just the beginning of his musical journey.

Rex's discography includes a range of albums, from his self-titled debut "Rex" to "Where Do We Go From Here", "Sooner Or Later", "Forever", "Camouflage", and most recently, "Simply...Rex".

As his popularity reached new heights, Rex turned his attention to the world of Broadway, making his debut as Danny Zuko in the original production of "Grease". He received the Theater World Award for his memorable portrayal of Frederick in "The Pirates of Penzance" on Broadway, and went on to star in a range of other productions, including "Grand Hotel", "Sunset Boulevard", "The Scarlet Pimpernel", "Annie Get Your Gun", and "Kiss Me Kate".

Rex's television career also took off, with starring roles in the series "Street Hawk" (1985) and the popular CBS daytime drama "As the World Turns" (1956). He hosted three episodes of "Solid Gold" (1980) and appeared in a range of other TV shows and films, including "Once in a Lifetime" (1994),"A Passion to Kill" (1994),"Shades of Love: The Ballerina and the Blues" (1987),and "Perry Mason: The Case of the Silenced Singer" (1990).

In 2018, Rex took on the role of Billy Mack, an aging rock star, in the world-premiere production of "Love Actually Live", a one-of-a-kind stage production performed live with an all-star cast and 15-piece orchestra at The Wallis in Beverly Hills, California.
