Biography

Renée Taylor, a talented actress, was born in the vibrant city of New York, specifically in the Bronx, New York City, New York, USA. Her parents, Frieda (née Silverstein) and Charles Wexler, played a significant role in shaping her early life and career.

In the early 1960s, Renée began her journey as a comedian, performing at the renowned New York City nightclub, Bon Soir. It was during this time that she shared the stage with a then relatively unknown Barbra Streisand, who would go on to become a legendary performer.

Renée's breakthrough role came in 1967 when she portrayed the iconic character of Eva Braun in Mel Brooks's iconic comedy, The Producers. This role marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career, spanning over 60 years, during which she appeared in numerous film, television, and theater productions.

Despite her impressive body of work, Renée Taylor is perhaps most beloved for her portrayal of Sylvia Fine, the lovably overbearing, classic Jewish mother of Fran Drescher's title character in the popular television sitcom, The Nanny.
