In the early 1930s, Reginald Denny, a film industry professional, found himself between scenes on a movie set when he encountered a neighborhood boy struggling to operate a cumbersome gas-powered model plane. As Denny attempted to assist the young enthusiast by making an adjustment to the machinery, he inadvertently caused the plane to malfunction, ultimately resulting in its destruction.
