Rebecca Cook is a multifaceted filmmaker who has made a name for herself in the industry with her versatility in writing and directing.
Her feature film, Shooting Livien, released in 2004, was a high-definition production starring Jason Behr, Dominic Monaghan, Sarah Wynter, Ally Sheedy, Joshua Leonard, Polly Draper, and Jay O Sanders. Shot in New York City during the fall of 2003, the film is currently in post-production.
In addition to Shooting Livien, Rebecca has several other scripts in development.
Rebecca's 35mm feature film, The Chester Story, was released in 2003 and starred Teri Hatcher and Andrea Powell. The film was distributed by PorchLight Entertainment abroad under the title A Touch of Fate and domestically through Outrider Pictures.
Before this, Rebecca wrote and directed her short film, Nipply Ray, and a low-budget feature, The Gypsy Years, both of which received festival screenings across the country.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor's degree in English from Bates College, where she also concentrated in Creative Writing and French. After college, she moved to Los Angeles to work with Disney and ZM Productions, and later as a freelance script reader and associate producer.
She spent a year in Boston as a researcher and assistant to documentary producer Charles Stuart before moving to New York City to work with Sauce Entertainment. In 2000, Rebecca co-founded Velveteen Films Inc. with three partners, and currently resides in New York City, where she continues to develop projects with the company.
