Rebecca "Becky" Blasband, a multifaceted creative force, was born on July 8, 1967, in Philadelphia, PA. She began her journey in the performing arts at a tender age, studying theater with John Strasberg and the Mirror Repertory Company in New York City at just thirteen years old.
As she grew older, Rebecca continued to hone her craft, attending the prestigious New York University Tisch School of the Arts for film and television. She was one of the first students to enroll in the Atlantic Theater Company's acting school in Vermont and Lincoln Center, NYC, where she had the privilege of studying under the guidance of renowned directors David Mamet and William H. Macy.
Rebecca's early career was marked by performances in small theaters in New York and Off-Broadway productions. As a singer/songwriter, she shared the stage with her then-partner Adam Schlesinger, performing around New York City and New England. Her musical talents also led her to tour solo acoustic with Squeeze and Aimee Mann, opening for notable acts such as Jon Bon Jovi, Matchbox Twenty, and Chris Whitley.
In 1992, Rebecca made history as one of the seven artist roommates on MTV's groundbreaking reality series "The Real World," New York. This marked the beginning of reality television, and Rebecca went on to appear in several spin-off shows, including "The Real World Reunion" (1995),"The Real World Reunion: Inside Out" (1996),and "The Real World You Never Saw" (1997).
Rebecca's music career saw the release of her critically acclaimed CD, "Rapt," featuring original material for Mercury/PolyGram. She also wrote for Warner Chappell Music Publishing and continued to write and perform music.
In addition to her music endeavors, Rebecca applied her creative talents to screenwriting, collaborating with Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Antonin Svoboda on "The Strange Case of Wilhelm Reich." She continues to write for the screen and pursue her passion for music, embracing the title of "armchair actress," willing to take on roles when the opportunity arises.
