Biography

Ray Garton, a renowned writer, was born on December 2, 1962, in Redding, California. His fascination with the horror genre began after watching William Castle's classic fright feature "Thirteen Ghosts". As a child, Garton avidly read a wide range of writings and started composing his own short stories as he grew older.

Raised as a Seventh-day Adventist, a strict Christian sect, Garton attended the Christian boarding school Rio Lindo Academy for two years. In 1984, he sold his first horror novel, "Seductions". Garton received widespread acclaim for his dark and seamy vampire book "Live Girls", which was even nominated for a Bram Stoker Award.

Throughout his career, Garton has penned numerous novels, including "Crucifax Autumn", "Trade Secrets", "Lot Lizards", "Dark Channel", "Biofire", "Shackled", "The Folks", "Sex and Violence in Hollywood", "The Loveliest Dead", and "Ravenous". Under the pseudonym Joseph Locke, Garton has also written young adult fiction.

In addition to his novels, Garton has written novelizations for films such as "Can't Hardly Wait", "Good Burger", "Warlock", the fourth and fifth "A Nightmare on Elm Street" pictures, and the 1986 "Invaders from Mars" remake. Furthermore, he has authored numerous short stories and novellas.

In 2006, Garton was awarded the World Convention Grand Master Award at the World Horror Convention in San Francisco. He currently resides in California with his wife Dawn and eight cats.
