Randal is a Filipino-American writer and director who has gained international recognition for his award-winning films that showcase his unique blend of dynamic visuals and socially relevant themes.
His feature film, Faraway, released in 2014, was praised by FilmThreat as "a varied and unique cinematic flavor" and was screened at numerous festivals worldwide, including the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, the Singkuwento International Film Festival in Manila, and Indie Fest USA, where it won the Best Feature award.
Randal's more recent feature, The Monsters Without, premiered in 2021 and has been selected to screen at several prominent film festivals, including the 37th Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, the Another Hole in the Head film festival in San Francisco, and the Santa Clarita International Film Festival, where it won the Best Foreign Feature award.
In addition to his feature films, Randal has also made a name for himself with his short films. His 2021 short, No Dogs, tells the story of the 1930s Watsonville riots and has been selected to screen at several festivals, including the Twin Cities Film Festival, the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival. No Dogs has also won several awards, including the Short Film Audience Award, the Best Supporting Actor in a Short Film award for Ian Coleman, and the Petite Prix Best Short Film Award at the Chelsea Film Festival in New York City.
Randal is not only a talented filmmaker but also a dedicated educator. He teaches Honors Video Production at Fillmore High School and has also worked as a Visual Effects artist for commercials and movies.
