Ramya Krishnan is a renowned Indian actress who has made a significant impact in the film industry with over 260 movies in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi. Born into a family of actors, she is the niece of the late Cho Ramaswamy, a prominent Tamil film actor and former Rajya Sabha member.
Krishnan began her journey in the world of dance, receiving formal training in western, Bharathanatyam, and Kuchipudi forms. She made her acting debut at the tender age of 13 in the Malayalam film Neram Pularumbol, although the film's release was delayed. Her first official movie appearance was in the 1985 Tamil film Vellai Manasu, starring Y.G. Mahendran.
Throughout her career, Krishnan has appeared in numerous films, including Padikkathavan, Per Sollum Pillai, Madana Gopaludu, Aasthulu Anthasthulu, BhamaKalapam, Bava Marudula Sawal, Orkkappurathu, Aryan, Anuragi, Krishna Rukmini, and Dayavan. Her breakthrough role came in 1990 with K. Viswanath's Sutradhaarulu, which earned her a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu.
Krishnan's subsequent successes include Alludugaru, Allari Mogudu, Major Chandrakanth, Allari Priyudu, Annamayya, Kante Koothurne Kanu, Parampara, Khalnayak, Chaahat, Banarasi Babu, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. In addition to her film career, Krishnan has also made appearances in TV serials like Thangam, Rajakumari, and Vamsam.
