McDaniels' career began with an internship at WNYC, where he honed his skills and eventually became a radio engineer. This experience laid the groundwork for his future endeavors, including the creation of Studio 31 Dance Party, a groundbreaking television show that showcased recordings of live music performances.
As the show evolved, it transformed into Video Music Box, a program that McDaniels co-created and co-hosted alongside Lionel C. Martin. This innovative series revolutionized the way music was presented on television, offering a unique blend of music, art, and culture.
McDaniels' academic background includes studying communications at LaGuardia Community College, which provided him with a solid foundation in the field. He went on to co-found Classic Concepts, a video production company, with Video Music Box producer Lionel Martin.
Today, McDaniels continues to work in the entertainment industry, albeit in a different capacity. He is currently employed by the Queens Library, where he utilizes his skills and experience to support Outreach Services.
