Biography

Ragini, a renowned Indian danseuse and actress, was born on March 27, 1937. She was the youngest of the illustrious Travancore Sisters, a trio of talented siblings that included Lalitha and Padmini.

Ragini began her acting career in the mid-1950s, teaming up with her sister Padmini to star in a variety of films across different Indian languages, including Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. One of her notable film appearances was alongside Shammi Kapoor in the 1958 movie Mujrim.

Ragini's entry into Hindi cinema marked the beginning of a new era of dance in the industry, with her and other South Indian actresses bringing a fresh perspective to the medium. Throughout her career, she not only acted in numerous films but also performed in various stage dramas.

Tragically, Ragini's life was cut short when she succumbed to breast cancer on December 30, 1976. Despite her untimely passing, her legacy continues to be celebrated and remembered by fans and admirers of her work.
