Born in the charming island of Burano, nestled in the heart of Venice, in the year 1941, Pino Donaggio embarked on a remarkable journey that would shape his future as a musician. He began his musical training at the Conservatory of Venice and Milan, where he honed his skills in playing the violin.
As a young performer, Donaggio gained valuable experience by performing with the renowned Solisti Veneti and the Soloists of Milan. However, it was in 1959 that he made the bold decision to transition from classical music to pop music, a move that would ultimately lead to his international success.
Over the years, Donaggio participated in ten editions of the prestigious Sanremo Festival, earning notable placements in 1963 with the song "Giovane giovane" and in 1966 with the song "Una casa in cima al mondo". His most iconic song, "Io che non vivo (senza te)", released in 1965, has become a timeless classic, even being covered by the legendary Elvis Presley.
As the years went by, Donaggio began to shift his focus towards composing music for films, a career path he would pursue with great passion and dedication. With a career spanning over four decades, he has created more than two hundred soundtracks for both big and small screens, both domestically and internationally.
Today, Donaggio resides and continues to work in the city of his birth, Venice, where he remains a prominent figure in the world of music.
