Pietra Montecorvino's biography:
Pietra Montecorvino made her debut in 1983 in Renzo Arbore's film "FF.SS." - Cioè: "...che mi hai portato a fare sopra a Posillipo se non mi vuoi più bene?", where she also sang the song Sud, showcasing her vocal talents. In 1988, she released her first 45 rpm single, Una città che vola/Tutta pe' mme, and collaborated with Angelo Branduardi on the songs Frutta, Tango, and Barbablu, as well as their French versions.
Her first album, Segnorita, was released in 1991, written by her husband Eugenio Bennato and his brother Edoardo. The same year, she won the Targa Tenco for "Best Interpreter of the Year". In 1992, she participated in the Sanremo Music Festival with Peppino Di Capri, performing the song Favola Blues. The following year, she released her second album, Voce di pietra.
Throughout her career, Montecorvino has continued to work in theater and cinema. In 2000, she published the compilation album Del mio meglio and the album La stella del cammino. In 2004, she released the album Napoli mediterranea. In 2005, she participated in the album Seguendo Virgilio - dentro e fuori il Quartetto Cetra, a tribute to Virgilio Savona of the Quartetto Cetra, alongside other artists who revisited some of Savona's songs.
In 2006, she duetted with Grazia Di Michele on the song Volubile, included in her album Respiro. In 2008, she duetted with her husband Eugenio Bennato at the third night of the Sanremo Music Festival, performing the song Grande Sud. In 2009, she released the album Italiana, featuring the best of Italian music from the past 40 years, reinterpreted with ethnic and Middle Eastern instruments.
In the summer of 2009, Montecorvino performed a small concert in Tripoli, Libya, as part of the Italian-Libyan Friendship Day, attended by Libyan leader Gheddafi and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. In a humorous interview, she shared her fascination with the dictator.
