His illustrious career began with a humble stage appearance in a Boston amateur show, where he was first discovered. He later teamed up with the talented violinist Ed Janis, and subsequently collaborated with the renowned Ben Bernie.
As a proud American, he served his country with distinction in the United States Navy during World War I. Upon his return, he transitioned to vaudeville, where he gained widespread recognition and was featured on the popular radio program "Take It or Leave It."
His impressive repertoire includes appearances in numerous Broadway musicals, such as "Music Box Revue," "Crazy Quilt," "Artists and Models," "Greenwich Village Follies," "A Night in Spain," and "Calling All Stars." In 1929, he joined the esteemed American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP),solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the music industry.
