Petrus Antonius, a talented individual, was born in Amsterdam, Holland, and at the tender age of two, he embarked on a remarkable journey with his parents to Brazil, where they settled in the vibrant city of Sao Paulo.
As a young boy, Petrus discovered his passion for acting and made his first stage debut at the tender age of eight in a musical comedy at the Dutch Club in S.P. This marked the beginning of his journey in amateur theatre, which continued throughout his school and college years.
As he grew older, Petrus's acting career gained momentum, and at the age of 19, he started working in TV commercials. His first television debut came in the Telenovela "Tilim" produced by TV Record channel 7, directed by the renowned Wanda Kosmo.
Petrus's pursuit of excellence in acting led him to study with the esteemed Emilio Fontana at the SBC - Sociedade Brasileira de Comedia in 1971. The following year, he was accepted into the prestigious Teatro Tese; (Universidade Sedes Sapientiae) acting studio, directed by the renowned Theatre director Roberto Lage.
In 1976, Petrus made the bold decision to move to New York to study drama at the renowned HB Studio on a three-year full-time student program. This experience was followed by workshop classes with the acclaimed Michael Shurtleff in Los Angeles at the beginning of 1980, while working as an actor in Hollywood.
Petrus's dedication to his craft led him to become a member of the Roundabout Theatre Conservatory and Ensemble Co., in New York, under the guidance of its founding and artistic director Gene Feist, in the mid-80's.
In 2008, Petrus won his first acting award, the Creative Loafing Best Of The Bay, for his portrayal of Pablo Picasso in the StageWorks production of "A Picasso" in Tampa, Florida.
Throughout his career, Petrus has demonstrated his linguistic abilities by speaking fluent Portuguese, English, Spanish, and Dutch. He currently resides with his wife Sandy in Tampa, Florida, and remains actively involved in the local theatre scene.
