Petra Davies, a talented actress born on July 24, 1930, in London to Welsh parents Petra and Vincent Davies, was raised in Newport, Wales.
She began her journey in the world of acting by enrolling at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1947, graduating the same year and making her television debut a year later in the 1949 production of Whiteoaks.
Throughout her career, Petra appeared in numerous television shows, including several costume dramas, such as Vanity Fair in 1956, where she shared the screen with Joyce Redman as Becky Sharpe, and as Jane Fairfax in Emma in 1960.
In addition to her television work, Petra also had the opportunity to take on the role of Elizabeth in a touring production of Pride and Prejudice, directed by the accomplished Sheila Hancock.
In 1962, she was cast in the leading role of a long-running stage thriller, 'The Mouse-Trap', but unfortunately, she had to give up the role due to her pregnancy with her second child by actor Jack May, whom she married in 1957 and remained with until his passing in 1997.
After retiring from acting in the 1990s, Petra Davies passed away on March 22, 2016, in London, leaving behind a legacy of her remarkable performances on stage and screen.
