Peter Martin, a renowned English actor, was born in Gainsborough and gained widespread recognition in the 1980s for his captivating appearances in numerous television advertisements for Jewsons Hardware.
One of his most notable roles was as the fish shop man in the popular British sitcom, First of the Summer Wine. Additionally, he brought to life the character of 'Charlie the moonlighting gravedigger' in the critically acclaimed series, The Beiderbecke Tapes.
Martin's extensive television credits include his portrayal of Joe Carroll in The Royle Family and Len Reynolds in ITV's long-running soap opera, Emmerdale, a role he held from 2001 until his character's passing on May 17, 2007.
